CASE SUMMARY

To bring awareness of the fires raging in the Amazon, Zulu Alpha Kilo leveraged the age-old holiday tradition of gathering around the Yule Log. During the summer months, the forest fires routinely made headlines in the media. But come December, attention waned and the Amazon Rainforest Conservancy needed to remind people that the fires were still burning. Enter “The Rainforest Fire Channel,” a live-stream replacement for the popular Fireplace Channel. Zulu streamed real footage of Amazon fires as part of a campaign that lived on a microsite, where consumers could learn more about the destruction impacting the rainforest. In addition, the agency created the “Twelve Days of the Amazon Burning,” a series of social posts revealing facts about the fires that were inspired by the Twelve Days of Christmas.
